The Circleville Pumpkin Show Celebrates Its 114th Year

Known as "The Greatest Free Show on Earth," the Circleville Pumpkin Show in Circleville, Ohio, is held the third Wednesday through Saturday every October. Its 114th year ran from October 19-23, 2021.

The Circleville Pumpkin Show features pumpkin-themed everything, including parades, rides, a pumpkin pie eating contest, the world's largest pumpkin pie, and more. The festival attracts over 400,000 visitors and is Ohio's oldest festival, started in 1903 by the city mayor. We're going to take a look at some of our favorite parts of the festival. The World’s Largest Pumpkin Pie The 100th-anniversary pumpkin pie is massive. According to the official website, it is the largest in the world. Here are the facts about this colossal pumpkin pie:

  • 14 feet in diameter

  • 360 pounds of sugar

  • 795 pounds of pumpkin

  • 60 lbs. of powdered milk

  • 60 dozen eggs

  • 75 gallons of water

  • 400 lbs. of flour

  • 15 people to mix

  • 10 hours to bake


The Baked Goods and Pumpkin Decorating Contest Featured every year is the baked goods and pumpkin decorating contest. Contestants can enter their delicious pumpkin-themed baked goods and pumpkin decorations to be judged by officials for a chance to win a ribbon for the best of both entries!





The Largest Pumpkins of 2021 The Greatest Free Show on Earth also features the largest pumpkins grown. From 39 pounds to almost 2,000 pounds, this contest is judged by weight. Contestants can win crowns and trophies for these giant pumpkins.
